i have a 93 civic cx with a 96 ls swap. took off the intake manifold to clean the iacv, and wanted to replace the intake mani gasket. its the papery one...carboard or whatever. is there any way to get it off? without getting a bunch of **** into the head..like residue and stuff.

oh and i took my alternator to autozone to get it tested. the guy said its barely pulling just under 13 volts. its a 96 ls motor. is that ok? he said it should be 13-14.5

 

When I test the voltage at my battery with my car at idle, nothing on, I get like 14.2V.
Never trust people at Autozone, they're almost all morons.

 

My question is why did you take off the Intake Manifold to clean the IACV??? Its on the back of the plenum held on with two 12mil bolts.

 

how do u test it?
just turn it on and connect the vltage meter to the battery? my problem is, my car doesnt idle. if i step of the gas, it dies. its a 96 ls so it doesnt have the ficv. just the aicv.

 

1) i almost stripped the screws, so i said *** it till i take it off.
2) i neded to replace my headgasket in case it was leaking.
3) needed to clean my throttle body.
4) i have an obx intake mani thats going on in place of oem.
5) replacing all the fuel/vacuum lines and my grounding kit.
6) cleaning the rear of my block.

and all this is supposed to help me rule out some thigns that may point to why my car dies and doesnt idle unless i give it gas. any help would be appreciated.
