10,000 gallons lol if you have to ask this i take it you never done this before make sure you get enough just in case u **** up but most just buy a gallon for somethin that small
are you painting the jambs and interior and everything? what color are you painting over?
my prelude was originally blue and i painted it champ white and i used a gallon of paint. but after reducer it turns to 2 gallons. i used almost all 2 gallons for the entire exterior, underside of hood and trunk, all jambs, and the doors. pretty much everything except the engine bay.
most paints reduce 1:1 so figure a gallon of paint will become 2. i also used a gallon of clear and that reduced 4:1:1 each brand and type can be different too.

^ That's a whole lot of paint...if you had used a sealer, I'll bet that would have been a lot less.
I keep hearing that you need about a gallon sprayable (2qts of paint at a 1:1) to do the car + jambs, not including engine bay. That's also what my local paint shop recommended, so that's what I'm going with on my Integra this summer. If you're doing a major color change, I would consider a sealer in a addition the the primer, base, & clear that you'll already need. Your paint shop should be able to make a recommendation though!

im just respaying it so im not going to need to paint the door jams and engine bay. just the inside of the trunk
im not too sure how much it'd take to spray your hatch but what i can say is, its better to have more paint then not enough paint. and it slightly depends on your friend's technique too. does he spray light n dry or close n heavy
better safe then sorry. goodluck

seriously, buy at least 3 qts. you dont want to be running to the store at the last minute to have them mix more paint. the color could be slightly off then too. and if you are painting on a saturday, most paint stores are not open so then you'd be ****ed because youre not supposed to let more than 24hrs go by between paint and clear without scuffing and laying another coat of base.
3 quarts of base is more than enough. I always buy 3 quarts just to be safe and for future use. I always have a little over a pint left after doing everything but the engine bay. It does depend on the skill of the painter and the gun/gun setup being used too. Some waste more paint than others due to the painter or the gun/gun setup. Make sure most of the paint is going on the car and not in the air. The paint that is being used could also be a factor. Some paints have poor coverage. If coverage is the case then use a sealer that's close to the base color.

quart of sealer maybe 1.5 quarts
2 quart of paint
2 quarts of clear
i dnt see any more need then that. once you put the green over the sealer you will see how good or bad it covers. I did yellow on my car over white sealer and i used 1.5 quarts BUT the yellow covered really good

the person you should ask this is the person who is painting the car. it really depends on what paint system you are using, this is not a standard answer kind of thing. if the car is already green and doesnt have primer, it will take much less paint than a car that has a lot of primer spots, etc. if you use cheap paint, you may not get as good coverage as a quality paint system. you need to give some more details to get an accurate answer. did your car have work done? or are you just repainting it? if you are just painting over midori you can save a lot of time and money by not priming or sealing. you can paint right over your old paint AS LONG AS THE PAINT IS GOOD. your new paintjob will only be as good as what is underneath it. if you paint over a paintjob that is peeling, or poorly adhered to the car, your new paint wont last any better. post some more details of what exactly you are doing.
