Is the battery dead? Did you hear a click. Does anything work? fan/prw windows/ especially good indicators for weak battery.. Is your car manual? If so will it push start? More precisely is there Battery voltage to the starter main terminal( the one that is connected to the battery) and do you have battery voltage on the starter signal wire when the ignition switch is in the start position? It is the small wire that is connected to the starter has speaker wire type terminal and also hidden behind a boot) If you have battery voltage then your starter is no good needs rebuilding/ replacing. Either banging on the starter while someone holds the ign switch in the start position will usually reveal a faulty starter. Good Luck and Follow Up
Come to find out it was the clutch safety switch...
