My EG
ok so i bought this car a little over a year ago and this is what the body looked like..

i recently started taking body shop classes and this is my progress..

ok so now my question is.. the holes the run along either side of the car where the side molding clip into, how do i "shave" these? i was able to do so on a fender i was practicing on by welding a small metal plate to the back.

this was pretty easy cause i was able to freely move the fender how i wanted or whatever. how would i do this to the rest of the car? basically how would i make the metal stay covering the hole while i weld it?

take your stud gun and weld a bunch of studs on a piece of sheet metal. Cut out little pieces each with a stud on it. You can hold the piece in place by the stud when you weld it up.
Judging from the pics you did a good job straightning out that drivers door. If you weld in the body side molding holes make sure you at least put some primer on the backside to make sure they dont rust out from the inside.
And make sure to keep the panel cool so you don't warp it! I've seen panel bonding adhesive used (check out Pandahatch's DB build thread), and it seems like the safer way to prevent both warping and rust down the road. He dimpled the metal in a little bit to allow for featheredging of the filler, and then use the adhesive to bond metal on the inside. The adhesive was made by SEM, I think it might have been called Panelbond, or something like that.

on the backside of where you weld the little metal piece you should use an abrasive disc to get rid of all the "burnt" metal and apply epoxy primer to the bare metal. If you cant reach it with an abrasive disc use 80 grit sandpaper.
so here goes another question i have. does anyone have any tips for when im welding the holes on the door? there is almost no space to get in there..

all of your help is much appreciated! thnx.

i think, ask a friend to help u out for a coupple of hours.and let him take the metal and keep it on his place, then u can weld it.
or take a magnet to keep the metal in place and weld it in then.
i think that's the only way, keep posting and good luck

ok so i am almost finished with the quarter panel but before i do the part around the the fender well i would like to do a fender pull. i have not been able to find a DIY or anything. maybe i didnt look good enough? if anyone has advise or a DIY for a fender pull that would be greatly appreciated.. also i need the paint code for the silver that comes on a 06 civic hybrid.. thanks for all the help H-T.
u recently started taking body shop classes...arent you learning anything?
any hole anywhere... if its not small enough to fill with weld.... (sometimes u have to have some type of skill to weld a hole shut)... make a little filler panel for it. and weld it in.
there is no problem with having a back plate and welding it on like u did with the fenders... although i wouldnt do it... whatever works right?.. as for the holes with no access in the back... u gota weld from the front.. cut some metal to fit the hole.. weld it. and try not to warp it. dont stay on it long at all... hit a bead. let it cool.. move to the other side hit a bead. let it cool.. and so on.. till its welded completely
