anybody tried to install an OEM integra sunroof on a type R? i bet it can be done but i want to know the pros and cons.

haha - Why the Sunroof ?

Just buy a GSR like others recommended - no need to ruin an R

go buy a GSR, cheaper, more available.

 

You'd have to cut out the entire roof skin and remove the headliner.

Then you'd need to get a replacement roof skin, headliner and full moonroof assembly with wiring and switch.

It'd be a lot of work, but I'm not aware of any reason it wouldn't work.

Still, I wouldn't do it to an ITR.

 

Because:

1) People would question if it was a real ITR, and not a DC with ITR stickers...
2) Leaks
3) Ruining a dwindling vehicle
and...
4) $$ you'll get when you want to (if you want to) sell it... LESS

 

Hey man i have a 2001 gsr with a wonderful sunroof, swing by oregon and i'll do a straight trade with you

 

just buy a fake itr. there are always a few floating around with jdm swaps, brake upgrades and a gsr shell. for a DD they aren't at all a bad way to go if done correctly. they will cost less than an R and you won't get made fun of for cutting up a rare piece of history. please don't kill a real R, buy a fake like mine, great DD cars, really

 

Why does anyone think the OE one would leak?

Pro's = blast someone who installs a sunroof on a ITR
Con's = may go to jail for some time.

 

Not necessarily. If the work is done by a person who is used to doing that sort of body work, I don't know why it would need to leak.

Again, I still wouldn't do it to a Type R.

 

If it's not broken, don't fix it.
Buy a cheap Miata, you get same the effects!

I don't miss having a sunroof...its part of what makes the car.

 

I think for the amount of time and money, you could buy another car with one already installed.
