Default Interesting AC issue *READ*

So i have a 1997 Civic hatchback DX with ac and in the mornings it blows cool fine for about 10 mins then it seems to run out of "juice" and just blows air, then 10 mins later the cool air will come back. In the morning I don't mind it but in the middle of the day in this Florida summer it can get pretty brutal. I am thinking I am just low on freon as it is cycling cool/warm. Any thoughts? could a loose AC belt cause this? Thx for looking

My freiends 4 door eg does the same thing, and he replaced the compressor, and it never did the same, it couldnt be freon cuz we replaced it new prior to putting on new compressor, but later found out that fan clutch was the thing that actually went out.

well this sucks. I am also seeing white vapor come through the vents. Could this be low freon?

when i turn my a/c on it kills almost all power to my car. the car starts bucking and running very very rough and like it doesnt even wanna run. spits n sputters and almost cuts out.

this has happened in my 2000 special edition integra my 99 integra GS and my 95 LS and now my 95 RS and also in my 96 civic

what the hell is wrong with the a/c in all cars? why do these cars run like **** when a/c is on. to fix it in my integras i cut the belts and took out the fuse... so i never turn it on but now this summer in toronto is ****ing rediculasly hot, im wondering if i culd fix any issues?

They my friend checked his was listen for the relay to kick, if it did nothing wrong, but if not relay went out. Before the replacement, if the car moved the cold air would go away, and when it stayed put it would be cool. so we just replaced both, because didnt want to take the chance. Maybe your could take out the old freon, and replace and see what happens, but be sure to get the cheap one, just incase its because compressor.

That is the same expierence that i have with alot of AC cars. Its great to have when its hot, but robs you of alot of power. Heres how i see it, the bigger the compressor, the more power to turn the damn thing. You could get underdrive crank pulley and see if that helps you out a bit. If you dont like the lag, then run with the windows down. I personally have never put ac in any of the cars that i have owned. I can deal with heat, and cant deal with lag! lol

the iac adjusts your idle when your ac turns on. that might need cleaning.

if your car lags really bad with AC, its cause you dont make any real power.

you need to see if your fan is running right

to me ac is useless, power robbing instrument that does nothing but need money to keep it running right.

recharging it, adding the fluid, keepign things clean, all that for abit of cold air, hmm. i roll with the windows down too hehe i might customize fans for the interior LOL.

then again blowin hot air isnt any different ;(
