EF9 Carbon-Fiber hatch
Question:
(Part 1) So does anyone have a carbon fiber have on his/her EF9?
(Part 2) If answered "Yes", does anyone have a custom rear racing spoiler like this:
(Part 3) If answered "Yes", how much does the wing cost to get made?
(Part 4) Opinion: Do you think it's ok to have that type of wing locked down on a carbon fiber hatch? Because of how light the trunk is, even with extra fasteners, do you think it would be fine?

As for "(Part 4) Opinion", If You are hooked to the look and it's just for DD, I don't see any problem with it "locked down on a carbon fiber hatch". But, if it is for high speed track and given that the wing design is dead on effective, there should be a roughly 10 pounds (yes, I just grab this number out off the thin air) of down force pushing on the carbon fiber hatch at high speed.
"Holly Batmobile Batman!!!" Sorry, I couldn't resist.

If you're going to have it come down like that; might as well have it mounted like on the CRX; directly to the back bumper and hatch is just for support like this car(take from RR/AutoX section):

are you seriously responding like this
if you knew what i was talking about, and then knew what you were talking about, and then been to buttonwillow and saw times, and then knew what honda challenge was... you wouldn't be sighing...

Your sir (spooledbseries) are a dumb ***
bumper beam/frame rail mounting the wing is the most efficient way to go. the issue with mounting it on carbon besides the flex is if you get turned around at 100 the lift that will be generated may rip the wing right off the hatch (has happend)
look into seibon or the likes, but i doubt you would find something that was actually worth the money (ie the weight savings isn't going to be great)
The wing element is an APR or something IIRC.
The mounts are made by PCI. He could make you a set, and is in socal
the owner of that car posts on here, let me see if i can find him.

He is as i type this Building me up a set of the brackets for my 96 hb. I'm also using a carbon hatch to mount the bracket's and wing on, if i feel the need to add structure reinforcements on the carbon, i will just do so. Give him a shout, he's a kewl guy who will help you out.

Why didnt you just call me Dom? haha wtf man?
Ill set you up with one anytime. And yes, to confirm, these are PCI (ProCar-Innovations) brackets.

Thanks for referring him over. The OP is actually one of my good friends... not sure why he made this thread?

Your brackets are being made in 2 pieces since EK windows are super funky and require a huge sheet of material.
Hahaha well i was just curious on how it would fair with the carbon fiber hatch. But I will definitely hit you up when i'm ready to get it. And damn, I haven't seen you since the meet. Are you going to make it out to my bbq?
In your case, for an EF, we would be mounting it similar to the CRX. Top mounts going to the roof and bottom mounts going to the rear bumper support for strength. Trunk won't be compromised.
Ill most likely be out for the bbq.

We need to kick it haha
cool design! the way it mounts it looks like if you got bumped from behind the whole assembly would just rotate a little and come back with no damage,,, kewl
can you make the bottom mounts with thoes slip pin thingys so you can just unpin and open the hatch?

Some companies use X layers of Fiberglas and then 1 layer Carbon. And then it depends how they "lay it up".
There is a thread in this forum that describes the different process for laying up CF.
I have found that most CF products aren't made to be light, they are made to look nice, and hold up to daily usage.
That usually means that they aren't going to be very light.
And if you goal is HC, remember it is only a legal mod for H1.
