hey guys.. I just bought a 2007 civic Si coupe 2 weeks ago. No mods except for the typhoon / K&N intake the previous owner put on. I just noticed the other day a weird and subtle rattling noise on acceleration until about half throttle. If I punch the gas the sound goes away. The noise to me sounds like it is coming from the engine bay. I would describe the noise as being similar to a peice of gravel in a tin can being shaken. I just checked underneath the car, and all the heat shields and exhaust and everything else I can think of seems tight and ok. I checked under the hood, and everything seems tight, even the intake. I dunno, it doesn't seem to be hindering performance but its extremely irritating. Any advice would be great. thanks in advance.

 

i am having this problem too. i hear rattaling noises too when my car is idle. anyone have a clue what this is. i have a 09 si

strange... mine doesn't rattle at idle, only on acceleration at half throttle. I don't wanna pay the dealer 90 some dollars an hour to try to diagnose it. nothin's loose under there.. it's pissin' me off.

SYMPTOM

A rattle from the right-front of the vehicle when driving over bumps at 15 to 20 mph (24 to 32 km/h).

PROBABLE CAUSE

The passenger's side hydraulic side engine mount is cavitating, making a rattling sound.

For vins 1 - 2700 on 07 Si Sedans

I have a 1998 Honda Accord Lx 5 speed with a high pitch rattling noise that only occurs when i am at a constant speed and give it gas to go faster but at a slow rate. The performance of the car is good. It sounds like the noise is coming from the passengers side. It is not a shock becuase i will not have any bumps and the car will make the noise. It seems like this only happens when i hit the gas with rpms low.
i would really appreciate it if someone could help.

to OP check to see if he did a torque dampner i know he told u he only did intake but my freind did that mod(dampner and it makes a rattle sound when accelerating

 

nope, no torque dampner... just intake. i took it to the dealer the other day so they could have a listen, and they came back with a "NFF" (no fault found). They said they couldn't hear anything. sure enough I took the mechanic for a spin and had to point it out to him. So then they brought it back in and determined that it must have to do with the typhoon intake..... that was that. I didn't get charged anything, just wasted a couple hours of my day. I looked at the intake myself again and couldnt find anything wrong or loose, so i dunno, i'll just live with the little rattle for now, no big deal i guess.
