when im driving down the road the car if fine, then when you go to accelerate harder than normal everyday driving from a stop or while driving, the car shutters and backfires then when you let off the gas it goes back to normal. it runs perfect other than that. any help? thanks its a h22a in a del sol.

 

ECU problem maybe any CEL's? check the TPS sensor.

 

no there are no Cels. ill check it but its driving me nuts, it runs perfect till you give it more gas. then it starts and you let off and it stops? i dont know what else it could be?

 

Have you checked the timing, both mechanical and ignition?

 

yea i checked the timing and it was good?? it ran fine the other day. it just started doing it?

 

Probably something wrong with the dizzy.

or clogged fuel injectors or fuel filter.

 

i just put some injector cleaner in it yesterday and changed the fuel filter as well. then tonite i went to leave my girlfriends house and it wouldnt start. it just turned over but nothing. no CELs, fuel pump is priming, just put injector cleaner in it, fuel filter, replaced the ignition coil, it has the msd on it, spark plug wires.

check and clean the VTEC solenoid.....it sounds like theres a possibility you fryed your ECU also...that happened to me....its almost like its bogging out...try a different ECU preferably a stock one

check the fuel pressure. my buddy had a h22 eg and that was the problem

ok well today i bought new msd spark wires. and i have the blaster 2 coil on the car. and the wire going from the coil to the dizzy was messed up and i found it out the hard way lol, i went to grab the wire and it shock the s**t out of me, i replaced all the wires. and it helped out alot but it still backfires and sputter a little bit at high rpms? i put some fuel system cleaner in it and injector cleaner, so hopefully that will clear the rest of it up.
