Default remove sway bars? also q bout bushings...

hey I have a 92 civic SIR and am spiffing the suspension for better track days. I will be running koni/GC with 450F and 525R. I am thinking of ditching both the front and rear OEM sway bars which I think are 13mm rear and 24mm front. Any input here? This will be a quite stiff fairly balanced setup I think, and I could get a few bucks for the bars probably so if they aren't necessary, I don't want them.

Also am replacing most of the suspension bushings... I don't want poly. Can anyone recommend a good place to get OE style bushings? Thanks!!

I'd test the car before and after removing them to see what works better. You can also try only removing the front only so you can get an idea of how each one impacts handling.

Keep the swaybars, they are needed. I remember reading that body roll shouldn't be corrected solely via increasing spring rate.

I like to use NAPA bushings. Cheap and last for years.

Over stiffening and dampening can reduce traction based on road conditions and quality, I believe but there may have been other reasons.

I see. I agree they most certainly have a purpose otherwise they wouldn't be there. seems to be controversy about this... I think I might start without them as the front is currently bigger than the rear which is apparently not ideal for understeer reasons. I'll try that and then maybe later get a bigger rear bar.

hmm napa... thanks dudes

This is true, but that also applies to sway bars. In fact, sway bars could make the car more sensitive to road imperfections since you're sacrificing some of the independence in the suspension. On the other hand, if he also daily drives the car, very stiff springs would be a pain in the ***.

Sway bar selection depends on how the car is used and on the setup. It's hard to say "you need a xx mm sway bar" or even "you need a front sway bar". You really need to experience the difference yourself to make a good decision.
