Hey everyone, just bought a 1994 del sol the other day for my first car.
I'm looking into 8k HID's for the aux lights anyone know what size/type they are?

on another note, the previous owner already had HID's installed in the headlights but they are just regular H4's and they only turn on when i flick the lights to high beam, sept they are low beam so I was thinking about gettinbg H4-2 lo/hi beams so it actually has low and high beams anyone know if i have to get new wires for this new setup?

what your going to want to do with the head lights is just get a whole new hi/low kit.
and please dont get 8k your going to look like a ricer and people are going to laugh at you.
look into 4300-6oook.
and the aux is the fog right??? just pull the light out and look at it they have them written on it.

to me they all look good. i have the 3,000k HID kit on my car.

and my boy has 30,000K on his. they look clean as hell

 

but yea just pull the bulb and you should find the type of bulb on it. then order the kit in that size.

 

30,000k damn. but 4300 - 6000k will give the most usable light. anything above 6000k puts out more color than actual usable light.

30,000k is useless. that is a ricer... they call it ricer blue for a reason..
i have 6oook in my civic and have alot of white and tiny bit of blue and 4300 is best for light output.

Do you guys have any idea what your talking about? those housings are made of plastic, not glass. Two minutes of driving with those high heat bulbs in there they're going to melt. I highly doubt you can find an hid kit for those bulbs either, they're similar to the ones found in tail lights, its a single point connection.

and just for a little piece of trivia, there not fog lights. They're auxiliaries. The fog lights in del sols go in the lower bumper and are very very costly/Rare

 

i honestly think you are the one that doesn't know what they're talking about. and to the OP, get 6000k hi/lo h4 for the headlights and i believe they are 6000k h3 for the aux lights. don't take my world for it. search sylvania automotive lighting guide on google and i think you can find a form that tells you all the bulb sizes for your car.

HID's that are ricer? Wow, It is his car and up to him what color he want. their still gonna put off a **** load of visible light. i have never heard of anyone call them ricer cause their blue...hmmm

To use HID, you'd have to buy the EDM AUX lights that are made of glass and accommodate an H4 bulb. Won't work in the USDM housing.

That's why I was going to purchase these aux lights for my sol. I don't know if they would melt from the HID bulbs. and I'm sure that there are HID bulbs out there that will fit these instead of doing a H4 conversion.

Yeah, I think they are to. I guess I'm hopeless haha. I guess the aux lights are specifically only meant for just regular turn signal type bulbs cause it seems to me even if I buy aux LAMPS which have glass instead of plastic it looks like they will only fit the halogens they come with and I don't wanna screw around with the wiring that comes with the lamps

 

i believe newer cars now a days have blue headlights but its illegal to have any blue or whatever headlights here in wisconsin. its got to be under 6k

 

the aux lights don't use H4 the headlamps do. the aux lights use a smaller bulb that doesn't flip between high and low beam. the Headlamp uses a 9003/H4 bulb and the aux light uses a different bulb.

and yes i have seen a 95 del sol with hid's in both the headlamp and the aux lights. the guy did an H3 conversion to the PLASTIC aux lights and has had them for almost 3 years now. no melting no nothing.

and to further prove my point, if hid's are as hot as the color temperature, a 6000k hid bulb would be 5726.85 degree Celsius, about 300 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun. how would something that hot be anywhere near usable in automotive applications. exactly.

so my true statement is that when on, 35w HID bulbs are at a lower temperature than 55w halogen bulbs

Your just gonna melt them, regardless of what brute said. Take this from a guy with a del sol.

 

no. from the factory cars with hid have 4300k maybe 5000k, the blue is just a color flicker.
in wa it just depends on the cop. you can get pulled over but you most likely wont.
