i have a 91 crx hf that got wrecked 2 years sgo and at the time the engine ran fine.but i finally got around 2 fixing it and now it won't start.it will turn over but won't run.i figured the new plugs and wires since it was left outside w/out a hood on it. but the new plugs and wires didn't help. i took one of the wires loose w/a plug on the end of it and tried to start it 2 c if there was any spark on the end but there was nothing. maybe i need a coil or a rotor button and distributer cap or maybe a whole distributor. or maybe it something alltogther else im missing? need help with it

 

Take one of the plugs out and put it against the block and see if you have spark...don't get shocked.

 

i tryed that allready and no spark

 

i'd try to replace the cap and rotor, and you could test the coil with a voltage meter i think the coil should have about 8-10 ohms of resistans, but search to make sure i'm correct on that, it been a while since i have had this problem

 

how's your main relay?

 

i haven't checked main relay. is it in the fuse box on the fire wall. could it have gone bad by sitting around w/the hood off. i will check it. what should i look 4 2 know if it is bad?or how should i check it

 

check the cables that connect the distributor to the power if that makes any sense. i unplug the distributor on purpose and call my work and tell them my car doesnt work and i let them here the car turn over but not start hahaha funny **** =]. u might have ripped a wire off or something. make sure its call connected

 

i have tryed to ground the plug at a better place and still nothing. i have also took one of the lines loose at the fuel filter and tryed to crank it to try to mget fuel to run out but nothing. so i am guessing it is the main fuse relay? i am lost

 

if ur main really is out u would have not power to the head lights and every thing. so if ur head lights are working ur ok

 

check to see if you fuel is all gummed up in ur tank

 

If it helps. I left my hood off and it rained(for like 3 months) and i needed to replace my distributor..
im almost certain that is it.
try to find someone to use theirs first then buy a new one if you need it

 

how about the igniter? that could cause a no start

 

Here are some links on how to test your fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, main relay and so on. It sounds to me like the fuse for your fuel pump is blown. Or the fuel is just not making it to the engine.

If you are trying to start it using the gas that has been sitting for three years, that is at least part of your problem.

Your main relay can fail while sitting as well, but if all fuses etc. check out your distributor, it might be toast.

 

here is the update i have replaced the coil,wires,plugs,distrbtr cap,and rotor button and checked all fuses and put new gas in it. nothing......... moveing on to the fuel system unless someone has better idea. oh yeah i also beat under the dash while i tryed to crank it

 

get spark first.....if you have a can of brake clean laying around you can shoot some in the intake and see if it trys to run...if it does then troubleshoot the fuel system, but you need to have spark first off.

 

have you taken out the old gas? after a few months of sitting fuel vapors conduct condensation, and as a result you now have water in your gas.

 

You left it out fron ur house with out a hood for 2 years? i dont know about any one else but if i drove by and saw something i needed and i saw ur car id take it.

 

ok update: i have sprayed starting fluid and gas into intake and NOW the car acts like it wants to crank. so it is getting spark so i am looking to replace fuel pump and or main relay prob both unless someone has a better solution
