Default 1991 CX/STD Hatch overheating.

Hey, I just got a 1991 Civic Cx or std hatch a few days ago, and I notice that the car overheats easily. Like around 10 minutes of driving, it's already at the line where the H symbol is at, and i'm worried. I'm new with hondas, so maybe this could be a common problem that is easily solved?

Thanks in advance. (:

the temp sending unit could be bad, my crx goes all the way hot in about 5 minutes because of this, what i would do is warm it up take a gauge and check how hot your cooling system is to see if it is really to hot or just the gauge, have the radiator cap off so it will not gain pressure, wait to see if the theromstat opens and coolent strat to flow after warm, i'd check the oil and see if antifreez is in the oil if there is then change the head gasket and water pump
