Buddy of mine is trying to get his egg back on the road.
Car has an LS/VTEC setup, runs fine when using the start button
But, whenever you try to crank the key all the way instead, the ECU just starts to smoke out.

Happened to a P28 and some other one, didn't check which.

My guess is possibly a bad ground somewhere in the harness after the tuck, random guess.
His idea is leaning towards something relating to the starter for some reason.

Sorry I don't have much info at this time, showed up, got told, searched, posted, and here we are.
Should know more about it and try some troubleshooting tomorrow, just seeing if any of you have any tips/pointers to go after.

ground issue.. i just dotn know where to tell you to look since all teh wires are tucked

 

had this problem with a power window fuse, every time the key was turned on the damn thing popped

found out i had pinched a wire with the cruise unit when i installed it.

i would go over everything that you guys could have installed (bolted up) that could have pinched a wire and grounded it out.

 

probably the large black with a white stripe wire on drivers side 2 pin plug grounded out.
