Default Can tire size affect shock travel ?

I have this doubt , the car is a 95 toyota corolla station wagon , stock height its my moms car . shocks are pretty much new about 1 month and a half of use , sometimes the front bottoms out over bumps or little holes when riding with a passenger . its supposed to use 165/65/14 tires from factory but my dad installed 165/70/14 . anyone has an idea on this ?

thanks

No. The tires will not cause that problem. In fact the car now has a slightly (5% of 165mm) larger sidewall which, so long as not overinflated, will actually provide more flex in the tires and less on the shocks. But being such a small amount, it is not enought to make any concernable difference.

have you checked ride hight springs to wear out and if they have gotten weak you are going to have very low spring rates. seing as how it is the springs that hold up the car and not the shocks I would take a look there because they do wear out.
