Default hard spots on flywheel

i've just pick my flywheel from local shop , they've refaced it but i noted that there are some weird spots on the wheel that u can feel under ur finger, got back to the shop and they told they hard spots and you cant do anything ab it and that i shouldnt have any problems with it either
dont really trust them so just wanted to ask if any of u ever had similar problem and shall use the flywheel or not take a chance and just replace it

I've seen those on flywheels with slipping clutches - they look like they are from hot spots that develop in those situations. Even though you probably would be fine running the flywheel, I would still get a new one if you could. Especially if you can feel those spots with your finger.

The flywheel is cast. It's not exactly a super homogeneous material. You will get voids and "hard spots" through out the material. If you're really concerned about it then pick up a $150 fidanza chromoly FW and call it a day. I'd say run the cast one personally.

Pirate is a machinist, so that's probably the final word.

I'm a bit concerned to be honest coz the clutch is going to be act HA3-HDG6 which is not one of the cheapest

If the cast material is not homogeneous then there's virtually nothing you can do about it. If you want to protect your investment then it might be a good idea to either buy an aftermarket chromoly flywheel or if you're feeling adventurous you can have the whole OEM FW friction surface machined out and replace it with an aftermarket friction surface found on on aluminum flywheels installed with flat head screws. Though the price to do that might be prohibitive.

If the current resurfaced FW's friction surface is parallel and flat with minimal runout then I'd run it. Otherwise get a new flywheel and stop worrying about it. You have options, it's up to you.
