98 CR-V tire size questions
i currently own a CR-V EX 4wd and i would like to put BFG A/T tires on it, the only problem is they are only offered in 205/75/15,
the current size on it is 205/70/15,
the BFG's will be the same width but about an inch larger in total diameter.
will i have any rubbing issues? any other stupid problems (other then speedo).
----How important is it to have the spare tire the EXACT same size as the rest? i know its 4wd, but couldn't i always put the spare on the rear axle and be alright since 4wd is not activated until front wheel slip?

You will fit it fine. Although the tire height is one inch difference, only 1/2" is made on any one side. Imagine, if you will, lowering the car on stock rims and tires. It'll work out fine.
As far as the spare tire, it very much depends on you. Read THIS first, then continue...
Did you read that link?
Really?
Okay, now that you realizes that the RT AWD kicks in when the front wheel detects slippage via the viscous coupling, you'll realize that if you have a little radio flyer red wagon, if one wheel is smaller than the other three, with a load, it'll lean towards that side with the lower wheel. The wheel on the opposite end is SLIGHTLY lifted off the ground. Now will this happen on a CRV? Probably not. But at speeds, it has the potential to do so. More so when you're taking a turn.
I say don't do it, but again, it's really up to you. Will it slip? Probably not. Can it slip? It has the potential to. Are we guaranteed it won't slip? Heck no, We can guarantee there will be some slippage, thus engaging the AWD. All up to you though...
Replace the spare with one of the same diameter, IMO.

The smallest size I could find in the BFG A/T is 215/75R15. I am looking at getting these also for my 98 CRV. I will find out in a couple of months if they fit.
my buddys evo had one off tire when he bought it used. he said when he was drive home down the highway, if he would have let go of the wheel, he would have slingshot off the road. at 65mph he could really feel the difference.
