Default Lexan

looking for molded Lexan glass for 88-91 civic HB looking for the side qrt windows & rear window...looking to lighten my ef even more then it is also with a carbon fiber hatch & id like to make it factory looking no rivets.
I know you can "glue" lexan in if its shaped like the facotry glass.this probably is more for the rear only. im thinking the rear qrter i could drill & make it open & close like factory "maybe"

CANT FIND IT HELP

yes, you can tint lexan.

i don't know why you would want to...

and about the weight, if you replace the rear hatch glass im sure you will save about 40lbs in that one piece alone.

if you do remove this weight, maybe think about changing your suspension setup to suit... without any weight over the rear wheels expect to slide into corners and expect to crab walk when you hit the brakes even in a straight line. this can lead to crashes/accidents if you don't know how to handle the car when it does this, even with the best of tires.

its all about balance.

i bet if you take two crx's with identical suspension setups and gut one and remove the glass i bet the stock glass/stock interior one will be quicker around corners

Sure, you can tint lexan. I has a protective film on both sides. That way you don't damage the surface while you're cutting it to shape. Once you've cut it to shape, Peel the film off of both sides, and tint the inside. Simple. Done deal.

40 pounds just by replacing the glass wow i really hope so ,that means the oem one is what 65-80 pounds? plus if I do a carbon hatch

I do have skunk2 drag with Tokico Illumina shocks that I can adjust even tho its a drag car not a autocross car soo I need the weight saving lol

car was 1910 with the B swap...now its H2B hopefully not much heavier but im done with all my bolt ons for now so I wanna save a lil weight.

Your hatch looks identical to my old one, i even had the same wheels. Minus the rear bumper holes and hood tilt though. Out of curiosity i just weighed my old rear hatch which i had removed the glass from and replaced with lexan and it weighs 22lbs. If you weigh your hatch with glass in it then you will have a pretty close estimate of your weight savings. I actually took my rear glasses out and weighed them back then to but the weight savings wasn't worth it in my opinion so i just kept them. Don't remember the exact weights, been about 4 years ago.

Actually bought a sheet of lexan from home depot and used a heat gun to form it and riveted it on. I read in your first post you didn't want to rivet it, good call. Mine stuck out like a sore thumb and it leaked, i eventually just put another hatch with glass in it back on. In my opinion the weight savings are not worth the money spent to do it stock looking but again thats just my opinion.

The rear quarter glass out of our EG is about 4.5lbs. The lexan with the frame and screws doesn't weigh much less.

Don't waste your money on a street car. Keep the OEM glass.

Hey HEY love the car man

the stock hatch weighs like 40lbs I think

I just replaced the glass and got it to 16lbs if you cut out the fram I think you could get it down more.

I don't think you can use glue as there is a lip around the window....maybe if you cut out the lip...hmm not sure about that though

The side glass I agree doesn't weigh much but it weighs something lol.
