hello everyone,

i have a 97 hatch with a full 3" exhaust and a fart can, i dont want to add any resonators to the exhaust,

does anyone know a good 3" inlet exhaust that has a quiet sound and looks kinda stock on the 96 ek?

if this one is with streight through design then it will be laud.

for quietness look for chambered mufflers

 

My Vibrant is LOUD, i have two other friends with Vibrants there cars are also very loud, the Vibrant is a gimmick, i'm sorry... 2 cars boosted 1 na all 3 cars have massive resonators and 3" piping for the 2 turbo cars and 2.5" for the NA.

 

im with blinx on this one......if the muffler has a straight thru core it will be loud......especially if the OP wants no resonators (why i dont know).

sacrafice some flow for some peace and quiet. pick up a chambered muffler with a proper sized resonator in the mid pipe.

 

I also want to have a quite exhaust. After researching a bit I came across this setup. I'm going to be using a thermal 3" with a vibrant ultra quite reasonator. Here is the link for it.

Since it is a straight through design it shouldn't hurt performance and at the same time quite it down a bit.

 

add a nice resonator in the middle , even though you dont want to, and that will lower the sound before the muffler has to deal with it.

 

I have a thermal R&D, sounds nice and its pretty quiet (no resonator)

 

My Thermal 3 in exhaust is extremely loud so much so I got rid of it, the fiberglass in straight cut muffler burns out and they get loud. I now run apexi universal 3 in exhaust with a resonator and a cat and its extremely quiet. I'm losing some power but I don't mind. With my old thermal you could hear the car from .25 mile away.

 

Like almost everyone else has already said the Vibrant flat black oem style are the best Ive ever heard or owned hands down

Honestly people don't even know my car is boosted unless i get on it (open dumptube).

I think ill be doing this muffler on my EG super charged. Ill do a 3" with the XL muffler.

 

I think your car is loud as hell man, sounds all-motor loud. Maybe it's my HD Audio, but I can't hear the wastegate over the exhaust on the 2nd clip. 1st clip is quiet from the front and you here the OWG but once you pass cam it's loud. You might as well got a straight thru muffler.

When you mean loud, yes the vibrant flatback stealth is loud.. but a deep loud/droney.
A nice 3" i/o that's 5-6" diameter resonator(basically a muffler) and vibrant muffler will be quite.

 

Some people are extremely picky with the sound of the muffler and the fact is that no 3" is going to be quiet on a 4 banger Honda, it's just not happening. I've heard A LOT of different setups and they all have some noise to them, it's the nature of the beast.

 

Yeah I've heard the vibrant mufflers. They have a stealthy look but are pretty loud. Im not sure if you're going to find something all that quiet though when you are looking for a 3". I have heard some DSM's with three inch Thermal's and HKS Hi-Powers that were relatively quiet, but there are people in this thread sayin thermals are ridiculously loud.

What I've done when I look for different exhaust tones is go to youtube and just type the exhaust in. Usually people have videos of their car idling/accelerating/ricer revving so you can hear the different tones.

 

i have full 3 inch piping with no cat and no resonators and my car is super quiet because i run a very large straight through magnaflow muffler

3 inch inlet and outlet with a large 5x11x22 inch body

its all in the size of the muffler. you can have a full 3inch straight through set up and it will be quiet as long as you run a large enough muffler. Most of you guys have loud exhaust systems because you run small fart can round mufflers or really small straight through oval mufflers

I run a 3in exhaust, cat, resonator and apexi universal 3 in. that was modified to fit a EG HTBK. T1 commented it was the quietest 3 in exhaust he's ever heard. I really need to post a video. **UPdate** Forget this my wastegate was dumped back into my exhaust making it sound quiet I recently changed that and now it sounds horrible
