HELP!!! fuel pump removal

Default HELP!!! fuel pump removal

i got a 90 civic SI it seems to have this ring around it. its very dirty i cannot get the rung turned. is that hte only thing that holds the fuel pump in?! and lemme ask,if i run a battery to the pump shouldnyt i be able to get it to pump fuel out? im running wires to it and no noise at all....i think its bad but i need to get it out to see

Yea thats the locking ring that holds it in. Clean off the loose dirt and rust and tap lightly on the three raised tabs to turn it. (I use and old screwdriver and a small hammer.)

i tried one of the tabs broke off!! looked like one tab was lowered to hold it in place i raised that one up and its locked up on one of the sides
ii think im gonna use some liquid wrench and let it sit awhile and try ahgain, anyhting esle after taht or does it pull out?>

ummm i pulled this ring off, there is no pump on this.. all there seems to be is a float im guessing for fuel level sensor i pulled it out and sthere is rust on it and rust all in the tank do i have to buy a new gas tank? and WHERE the hell is the pump?! i am looking at hte space under the rear seats.. dont sen any other openings for it : /

you have to drop the fuel tank to get to the pump. its accesed through a similar hole in a different spot on the tank. at least it is on an 88 crx

LOL.I just noticed in your first post that it's an Si. It has an inline pumpmounted to the left of the gastank.

u serious any way i can mount an in tank pump? i mean if i were to upgrade? and someone help me out with this rust issue. i shine a light in there and the walls are covered in rust. i would think it needs to be replaced, but if i do buy a new one, i owuld like to drop a punp in, so should i go for the CRX tank if i get one or what?
