Default EF b16 obd-0

I'm having issue with the motor not turning over. So basically I took the car in for a smog check and the machine could not get a reading for rpm. They tried different moving around to different parts of the wire and still no reading. So we figure it might be the distributor. I bought a used distributor and then it just wouldn't turn over. The buyer says the distributor was good when it was pulled off the motor. I noticed two wires loose from the larger harness plug on the distributor. Either they were loose before or had broken off when I had changed distributors. I fixed the wires and now All I hear is the starter when I try to start it up. The engine does not turn at all. Any ideas on what it could be?

You mean you just hear the starter free spinning like it's not hitting the flywheel and turning the crank over?

Sounds simply like the starter solenoid not engageing.

Check the the dizzy signals at the ECU connector once you have the engine at least turning!

I changed the starter and I get the same problem so I guess it wasn't the starter. My friend suggested that I try to manually crank the engine to see if it had seized.

any other ideas?
