h22a running then cutting off??
well when i was driving today all day and the car was fine, then out of no where the car cuts off while i was driving down the road. so i tried to crank it back up, and it wouldnt. it would turn over but not fire up. then i waited about 10 mins and it fired right back up. anybody have any suggestions? thanks
MAYBE, ignition module OR main relay..
I HAVE seen ignition switches rarely do that in civics.. Mainly accords and preludes..
If the engine dies and everything with it, (Stereo, guages, clock etc) look into an ign switch..
if the engine dies and you can get the check engine light test to come on with a key cycle and you can hear the fuel pump prime but won't start, look into an ignition module.
If you cycle the key and don't get fuel pump operation or check engine light test to work but all accessories work, (clock, radio, cig lighter etc) look into a main relay.
Hope this helps

yea when it cuts off the fuel pump still primes and everthing works radio lights etc.. it is in a del sol, so i dont think its the main relay cause all that works. so maybe the igniton module? because i drove it all day yesterday and today, then on the way home it happened just cut off. i stopped and tried to start it, nothing. waited a little while and it started up? so i might try the ignition module and hope that fixes it, thanks for the help
I know with my ignition modules when they failed, the engine would stall and then try sputtering a couple times then nothing..
Hope it works out for ya.. BTW.. SHOP THE IGN MODULES!! I've found the SAME module between cars, one for an integ that costs $130 and one for a DX civic that costs $30... So shop it between compatible models.. Anything that is civic or integra that is OBD1 or OBD2 is compatible.. Just make sure they have the same screw hole pattern as the one you have.

yea kinda sounds like what its doing, then when i go it back to my girlfriends house, and i hung out there for a while then, i drove it home and it was fine so i think im going to replace the ignition coil tomm, i gotta look how to do it ive never replaced one lol and gotta look around for the best price? idk if it is a pita? lol
not too hard..
3 screws to remove the cap, 1 screw to remove the rotor, 4 wires and 2 screws to remove the ICM..
MAKE SURE YOU APPLY Heat conducting compound to the back of the ICM and the bracket, also apply some between the bracket and the dizzy housing!! If you don't, the new one will fry in minutes.. You can get it at computer stores, radio shack etc.. the same stuff you use on a heatsink for your CPU.. the ICM makes alot of heat and uses the Dizzy housing for a ground AND a heatsink..

I had a problem when I had a MSD set up on my turbo civic, and what had happened was the coil popped a little hole in it and every now and then it grounded out and stopped working, but if it sat long enough and cooled down, it worked just fine, but if you still have an internal coil, id be looking at the coil pickup on the inside of the dizzy
I've seen/heard about this problem countless times and 99% of the time it was the ignition coil.
If it turns out to be his ignition coil like I think it is, someone should smack you in the face.
well today i drove the car and it was fine when driving normal but when you went to accelerate harder than normal driving, it like shutters and backfires and wont accelerate. but you can drive it normal and it is fine????
