Wiper Issue (have searched)
Hey boys and girls. About 3 months ago, I bought a 97 EX coupe as my DD to keep my Prelude off the road, and didn't even test out the wipers when I test drove it (I'm dumb, I know). But what happens is when you turn to the intermittent position, the wipers go about halfway up, and they stop. When that happens, there is a click from somewhere in the driver side dash. After about 3 seconds, they go again, but only a little bit. And then the click, and they stop. I've searched, and found something about maybe a wiper motor, but since im hearing the click, could it possibly be the switch inside the column? I'm just trying to determine how much I'm gonna have to spend to fix this. Non-working wipers on a DD that goes into a power plant every day is NO BUENO. Thanks for any info guys.

Sounds like there's a loose connection or bad motor. Also, the switch might be bad. Get a service manual and meter the switch and the connector for the wiper motor. To check the motor, just simply put 12V to the terminals.
I think there's a relay for that motor. The clicks you're hearing are probably from the relay. Not sure if a relay exists, maybe someone can confirm.
Does it do the same thing with both wipers or just one of them is messed up?

No, its both. Also, If I push the stalk down, what would be the "mist" position, I know it's supposed to cycle once, unless you hold it down. But if i tap it down, the wipers go up quickly and stop. And wont go back until I hold the stalk down until the I can dock them myself.
And one more thing it does. When I hit the washer fluid doohickey, the fluid shoots out, but the wipers don't move unless I make them.
I hate it. but hey, 3000 bucks...so I didn't expect it to be like a Beemer.

The relay for the intermittent wipers is built into the integrated control unit located at the rear of the under dash fuse box. The problem could be control unit, wires between the control unit and wiper motor, or the switch.
I also have the click sound issue everytime I use the intermittent wipers. I just installed a new wiper switch but the wipers work fine. I'm going to check out the intergrated control unit though and see what I can find out.
