Default Gauge cluster help

2000 ej6

how do you remove the plastic cover over the gauge cluster?
Is it simple pop out like I assume ? Or do i actually need to remove the gauge cluster itself?

the clear stuff or black stuff?

black stuff around the cluster has two screws at the top.. then pops straight out towards you. two clips at the bottom holds it in when the screws are out

then the clear stuff comes out with the cluster. then has a bunch of snap in clips around the edge of the cluster. you'll see it when you have it in front of you.

What exactly are you trying to do? If you're just removing the display cover, then you don't have to take the cluster out, but if you want to replace clusters or you're trying to do some work on the cluster then you will have to take it out.

it's tricky, but the use of a flathead screwdriver (or two) to act as a third hand will make life ALOT easier while pressing down the taps to remove the front cover.

Oh, in that case you have to take out the cluster and then remove the display cover from the cluster.

Correct me if i missed or say something wrong here. I just want to help.

Unscrew the 2 screws that's holding the bezel (the black thing). It should pop right out after removing the 2 screws.

Then remove the screws that holds the cluster, it should be at least 4 screws.

Now, pull the cluster out slowly, there are cables at the back of the cluster. you can detach the cables.

Now you can see the whole Gauge cluster. To remove the clear cover you might need something to wedge it out. its easy to detach.

to put back, just do the stuff in reverse.

I hope this helps.
