Default toda spec b valve clearances.

Hey fellas,

I have a 91 crx with toda spec b cams, valvetrain and cam gears..

when i bought the car it had all this. Anyway my question is the c-gears are @ 0 so finding tdc isnt an issue... i have a ticking noise and im hoping to god its a valve issue. i used a 15 for intake and 17 for exhaust. intrestingly everything but cyl 2 was tight. But when i say tight i mean TIGHT. will there be a clearance difference with the toda valves, cams and springs???

if not theres a rodd knock and its ls v-tech time for me.

this b16a has ctr pistons and a toda head build. i used a screw driver to make sure the piston was a top and timing marks were as close to tdc as i could get..

is there something im missing???

thanks fellas i appreciate any info you can share.

Toda specifies a 0.2mm valve clearance on both IN and EX.

But keep in mind that the Toda cams have much larger primaries than stock cams or most other cams, so added valvetrain noise is to be expected.

lol ty so much man.. i noticed in the valve adjustment everyhing seem'd so damn tight for a 15mm. this could save the day

ty again..

also if you know. i was thinking about gutting this b16a of all the hardware and putting it to use in (a) ls-v ( which is a pain in the *** to buld correctly) or (b) putting it all into a gsr. question is would it be worth it with future plans to boost?

thanks again for the info much appreciated.

Pondus is correct that the lash recommended by Toda is 0.2mm on cold.

the valvetrain will be loud as heck on cold starts, but quiets down a bit after warm up.

have you degreed your cams in? they may not be actually at 0 as you may think.
thanks to the help of a friend and some advice from DonF, my Toda B's were degreed in a few weekends ago. My friend and I found that true 0,0 was actually +1,+5 on my particular application.

As well as these cams are not like Skunk or other companies. They work best with higher compression pistons. I don't recommend them with boost.

Side Note: when you degree, remember that each point on the Toda cam gears is in .5 degree increments, not 1 degree increments like the other markings on other cam gears.
