Default Best way to keep your headlights in good shape---

Alright guys my car is 2 weeks old.

Every car I've ever had, the headlights start to get hazy and yellow after a few years.

I'm determined to keep these in good crystal clear shape for as long as I can.

What do you guys recommend?

I wash the car at least once a week, perhaps 2x sometimes beacuse I can't stand a dirty black car...

So I'm willing to do whatever will best protect it as often as I need to---

Please recomment tips, tricks, techniques, products, anything!

I have a 2000 civic with 217,000 miles on it. I have tried all different products for my headlights and none of them worked. Then I found this 3M restoration kit. I tried it and it is awesome! Here is the link: http://www.shop3m.com/60455033872.ht...aner-whats-new. It is a three step process, but I only have a before and after photo. Jerry.

damn thats some pretty good results there.

how long ago did you do that? does it still look as good?

I bought this 3 step thing from autozone that did a good job but in like 2 weeks it was hazy again.

I did them on 28 feb 09. Still looks good. They actually recommend a polish to maintain, but I haven't needed to do that yet. I paid I think $15 at amazon.com for the kit. Jerry.

I'm getting the clear bra put on tomorrow. I wanted them to do the headlight, but I decided against it beacuse they said the heat of the light will screw the film up and make it cracky and nasty looking well before the headlights would ever yellow on thier own.

I dont know if thats true, I can only take the installer's word for it. I mean why would they lie, it would just be more money in thier pocket, so i am assuming his advice is true and decided against it.

Thus the reason for this thread, if the film isn't a good soution for headlight protection, needed other ideas.

I tried the 3M kit a while back. Made mine worse...could be because they were really really bad in the first place. And I did follow the directions.

I would just hit the headlights with polish every few months and top it off with wax every car wash.
