I have a JDM ITR block with some PCT pistons in them. I have ARP rod bolts on the rods for insurance. Then I have a b16a head which is fully built with 5 angle valve job, port and polish and full ferrea valvetrain. The head is supposed to handle up to 10k RPM without a problem. I am about to get some Skunk2 Pro2 cams and wanted to rev the car to 9500. Can the ITR block handle that RPM safely? What would i have to do to rev there safely?

 

Why do you want to rev that high? You don't even know if you will be making "usable" power up there.

 

x2... if im not mistaken sk2 pros only make power til 8600 or so!!!

 

Who cares if it makes power up there? As long as he can brag to all his friends about how high is hype R revs lol

 

get it tuned and then you can figure out your shift point, dont worry about reving to the sky.

 

With a built & ported head and stage 2 cams... I could see making power up to 9500...

Stock type Rs can go to 8600... Dont know why someone would upgrade their whole head and be satisfied with that...

But yea its all about dyno time... Put it on the rollers and tune it to maximize your upgrades... And the block will hold up fine...

Also might wanna look into a top of the line header... Thats also gonna contribute alot to making power high up...

 

WTF? Even Pro 1's make power up to 9k rpm. Pro 2's can make power up to 9500 with a ported head and cam gear tuning.

after tunning you will know how high you can rev it to.

 

agree'd.. my pro2's made power up to 9k and stayed flat till about 9500 or so on a 1.8 12:0 c/r block

 

What headgasket are you using? Did you clay the motor and know your clearances before running the Pro 2s?

 

I think the op was wanting to know if it would be a good idea to push his engine to 9500... not if he will make power to 9500.... btw yes you can but to add extra insurance I would use arp con rod bolts to ease the mind!!

Skunk2 pro 1 made power to 8200 on 95mm 11:1 stroker. (can you say Undercammed)

 

I learn something new everyday. Need a new rev counter on my dyno.

throw an ebay chip in that bad boy and take it to 10k. 10k all day baby
