I drive a '91 ef hatch. I was offered a jdm vtec b16 obd1, with starter, ac compressor, header, and wire harness for 800 bucks. I'm not sure what the motor was in before, so should I buy a diff. wire harness, or should it work? and what kind of tranny would be best bang for buck? 1200 is rediculous for sir tranny on ebay. Is the deal even worth it? please help me out. thanks

 

You can use a LS trans but the long gears will hurt it a little performance wise as the b16 trans has shorter gears. Ask the person what the wiring harness is out of.

Is your hatch already MPFI or DPFI? Do you get axles? Linkage? Mounts? ECU? If none of these are included, you are going to spend ~5-700 dollars all of these depending on what kind of mounts and linkage and ECU you get.

It doesn't sound like a very good deal as you are missing major components to put this motor into your car; however if you are interested my buddy has everything you will need for the swap that he is getting rid of. Mounts, Linkage, Axles w/ half shaft, and b16 trans. If you are interested shoot me a PM and I can get you a price on everything combined.
