SoCal..buying from small dealership
so im looking to purchase a clean title 05 S2000.. 27k miles $17,0000 from a relatively small dealer in LA off La Cienega.. just wondering if any of you have any experience purchasing cars from small independant dealers, if theres anything sketchy at all that I should look out for.. im trading in my 2008 Honda Civic LX coupe that im currently leasing, theyre gonna pay it off and add whatever deficiency balance to the new loan which I can finance for 5,6 or even 7 years depending on what payment id be comfortable with... if anybody has any experience or advice on dealing with small dealers it would be greatly appreciated..
ius that 17000 out the door or 17000+licensing fees/tax etc. i feel in this buyer's market you can talk them down, or better yet talk them into throwing in an extended warranty (7yr package)
Test drive and look the car over first. I went and looked at an 05 from a smaller dealer in San Diego when I was first purchasing my s. It was in bad shape. Didn't drive well at all and it looks like they didn't take care of it. The final straw was when they told me they had just got it back after they lent it to someone as a rental....Just be sure to ask questions and give it a good look over/test drive...and get a carfax report lol
yeah the guy there told me I can go in the morning, leave a copy of my drivers license and copy of my insurance info, and I can take the car to a mechanic and have the car checked out, and there is a nearby Honda dealership I called and they do a full used car check for $102.00.. so I plan to do that. it would suck if the car didnt pan out and I would be out $102 but definately better safe than sorry.... im more concerned with their available 7 year financing if that would be a good idea.. Real low payments, but the balance would be dropping pretty slowly. Although this car's value doesnt drop too much considering it being well taken care of... and then the thing with my current car, I wanna be sure they payoff my Honda lease, dont wanna give them my car and it not get paid off somehow... just trying to avoid any kind of possible scam of any sort... thanks for any help..
It's funny because I almost bought an AP1 from this dealership. And, I also test drove the car you mentioned above. Overall it feels solid, with some minor cosmetics (bent muffler tip and missing a couple things). IMHO, I wouldn't suggest buying and financing through this dealership. They seemed very easy when you test drive their car but are very firm on their price. Expect to pay an additional $1300 in taxes and license fees. I would look for an 07 or 08, you can usually find them at a really good price. Research more 'cuz most of the dealer or stealer are not trustworthy when it comes to warranty. Make sure you read everything before you sign anything!
If you don't care for color. You can find a pretty good ap2. I waited for 2 months to find a clean white one, but every white one I saw was 2 to 3 grand over my limit. So I ended up getting a black one 04 for 16otd. The one you are looking at is the silver one right. They have been trying to sell that one for a while. I dont see why you couldnt get it for 16otd. Good luck and make sure you get 2 keys and a 1 month warranty.

There are better deals out there, but 17 is not a bad price for it from a dealer in CA! I just passed on a BB 04 with on 12,000 miles on it for 15k
ive searched around alot and there are rarely better deals for AP2s w/less than 30k miles.. maybe in Maryland its a different story but not around Socal... its less than private party blue book price, and much less than suggested retail blue book... plus this dealer offers 7 year financing which will leave a pretty low monthly payment which is ideal right now..
