need help with d16z6 swapppppp
okay swapped a d16z6 into my crx and have been having nothing but problems with it. first when i started it up i was getting white smoke out the tailpipe so i thought it was the head gasket. so now i replaced the headgasket and head studs with arps all torqued down to arp spec. now im still getting white smoke. i need help badly im about to give up on this engine. i just dont know what else to check. IM gasket is also brand new. valve stem seals are new as well.
slim chance sure. I would love to say thats your issue, but it sounds like a deeper issue. Any chance you got a little coolant into the cylinders or anywhere else it should not go?

yeah i would like to think so too but its probably not that simple. i let it run for like 30mins and it was still smoking bad. it was awhite but it didnt seem to smell like coolant but i could be wrong. i changed the oil and coolant all the spark plugs are new along with the valve stem seals. the car sat in storage all winter and there is also a leak in the gas tank so i wasnt sure if water in the gas was a good chance.
well a couple weeks back i had this same problem. when i first started it up it was idling at around 1100rpms and wouldnt drop and was blowing white smoke so i figured it was the head gasket. when i drained the oil i didnt see any coolant in the oil. so i went out and got a new headgasket and cleaned to crap out of the head surface and block surfaces and installed the headgasket with new arp headstuds so i wouldnt have to worry about stretching the headbolts. so yesterday i go to start it up with new oil and coolant in it and its doing the same thing. idles at 1100rpms and blows out white smoke.
Hang in there and figure it out, if you scrap it now you will always wonder what it was.... I've been there. I had the white smoke thing and said screw it, I left the house in effort to blow it up. Went down the road pinning the rev-limiter and smoking the tires being a dumb ***, then all the sudden it went away... Turns out I just had some residual **** that needed to be burned out. Have you tried taking it for a drive? When this happend I had let the car idle for about 30 minutes and it was still smoking, and it took a drive to clear it up... Just don't do what I did with the rev limit/burnout ****, just not a good idea. Otherwise, there's the far fetched chance you hooked a coolant line to a vacuum port on your intake manifold? I doubt it's a cracked sleeve, this is a stock engine right?
*your high idle is a good sign you have coolant entering the intake manifold, but try driving it to see if it gets better or worse...

yes stock engine. i havent tried driving it yet so maybe that might help. theres only like two coolant lines that go to the intake mani right? the ones that go to the fitv right? and theres a coolant passage thats on the far left i think.

Are you losing coolant where you notice a drop in the amount in the radiator?
I know you checked the oil for water, but have you checked the water for oil?

There should be two on the back of the IACV that bypass through it.
also try checking the pcv valve, if the oil is low the pcv valve is letting oil int the combuston chamber, this happened on a ford to me at work the other day
sounds like you just have to drive it, sometimes it just needs to be blown out

took it for a short driv down the road and back. still smokes but maybe it wasnt enough? i found this coolant line diagram http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...tcrx/d15b7.jpg my coolant lines on my manifold dont match the diagram. do u think that will make in difference? i dont have a coolant like going to a vacuum line so i dont think its sucking in any coolant through the manifold.
