well i got my car towed to my house and got up under it and was able to grab the linkage and move it back and forth. and i can put it in any gear while the car is running??? so my main question is....could this just be my shift linkage f'd up or trans no good???

well when it happend it just sounded like some rocks under my car and after i coasted to the house i was going to it made no noises or anything...sounds and runs normal. while the car is running you can put it in each and every gear without using the clutch pedal. but it will not go....

does the speedometer move when its in gear without the car moving? just wondering

 

It sounds to me like whatever your problem is, youre going to have to drop the transmission to fix. Once you drop the tranny, you should be able to find your problem much easier.

 

maybe its your shift changer inside the trans...i seen that thing break before
