I have a 1998 Acura CL with the 3.0 liter engine and 195 000 km. What happened was I went to start the car (with the engine still hot), it cranked no problem but the engine began to sputter, the rpm was fluctuating until it stalled. I tried two other times and the same problem occurred. There is no check engine light on.

After letting the engine cool down, it started perfectly fine and also drives fine. This problem has been happening on occasion but the engine would never stall. It was usually on humid rainy days and the car would begin to idle fine after about 5-10 seconds of sputtering.
If there was a misfire I believe the check engine light would have came on, also the air filter is new.

Any suggestions?

 

Similar experience a while ago. Try cleaning or have someone clean the tps sensor. Hopefully this will solve your problem.
