Replacing OEM parts - Upgrading ???
I have a 95 LS...and it just hit 150K...its starting to run like sh*t...i wanna buy a JDM B18B, but don't wanna spend that much $$$...what are some upgrades or OEM replacement parts i can buy to make it running good again or at least good enough???...or should i just get a whole swap???
What exactly is it doing to run like ****, many people have stock blocks and have no problems with it after 250k miles with routine maintenance. It's very fixable unless if you really ****ed up something.
the valves tick(friends tell me to just adjust valves)...one day i was trying to catch up to my brother, so i floor'd my car..and it was just smoking after that...it was a weird, sweet kinda smell..somebody said i fried my clutch..???...i replaced my axles, and now my intermediate shaft boot is ripped...my car's front left suspension toggles and feels unstable at times...and it eats a lot of gas...and pritty much yea..runs like ****...it doesn't even pick up when i try..to floor it

yea..i haven't adjusted the valves..and its been a couple of months now...it still clicks here n' there..mostly on colder days and high idles
sounds like you just need a decent tune up and valve adjustment. my car was 160k on it and it runs like a champ. unless you want a motor swap go for it.

are you losing any coolant? if so, your head gasket is leaking coolant into your cylinders. and if you see a blueish black smoke than your motor is burning oil also.

if you taking about putting new rings, valve seals, bearings and adjusting your valves, and a shop gonna be doing it for you then it will cost more to rebuild your b18b than buying a used jdm one. mind as well go for a b20b or b20z swap for the same price of the jdm b18b, the b20z might cost a little more than the b20b but it has higher compression.
Mine has 187,XXX miles and it still runs like a champ. I got no problems with the engine just fixing little things here and there but I do my tune ups regularly.
I also think you blow your head gasket...This is why I think this! You said smelled a sweet smell after, when your coolent is burned that's what it smells like...Next Coolents kill O2 sensors, cats...There for if this happened you will be seeing your car running crazy rich, because it can no longer read the proper air fuel mixture. So I say PCV valve, oil flush, new oil and filter, new air filter, valve adjustment, timing belt, water pump and tentioner. New tranny fuild, flush your cooling system, and but new coolent in there. Have a shop check you piston rings, and cylinder walls. hone and replace rings if needed. Have them check rod bearings... Replace your cat with an aftermarket high flow, and install a new O2 sensor. Your car will be running like it's new! Also when replacing the head gasket, make sure that the machine shop resurfaces the head.
