Icon2 Worst night of my life - misshifted

last night i was opening up my car on the highway. as i was going from 3rd to 4th my car started to bog slightly, then it back fired then it reved to like 9k as if i was putting my car from 4th into 1st and slowly came to a stop..anyone know what happened? my car doesnt start anymore. sounds like it doesnt have compression. my friend said he heard it and it made the sound like the time his bros crx dropped a valve..i thought i made the timing belt slip, but i didnt. there was no hole in the block or leaking oil..anyone know what this is? please help me out asap..tomorrow i am planning to take off the head..hope i dont find anything fcked up

Check the timing, do a compression test. After that, drop the oil pan and inspect bearings/rods.

Drain the oil and check for metal shavings also.

Line up the crank pulley with the marking on the bottom, and see if the cams line up, search around the forum for the how-to and good luck man.

Check the tension on your timing belt. If it's loose, you probably skipped a couple teeth...

ok dude if ur car doesnt start that means u either have bent ur valves or crack pistons. cus if u mis that really kills the motor.. and its really hard to pop it back to 1st gear once ur in 2nd or all the gears.

I would change the belt anyway... it slipped for a reason and it could be because the belt is old and stretched.

dude, if your belt slipped and you havnt messed with it at all, and you were in 3rd going to 4th, you really just need to drain the oil, and if you see metals shards then pull the head. Slipped belts NEVER end well.
