Uncomfortable seats in Civic 06: Any possible replacements?
Hi. I have a 2006 Civic Sedan and am one of very few people who find the driver seat uncomfortable no matter what adjustments I make. I had the foam lumbar support shaved down which helped a lot but I still get a sore lower back - sometimes even on short drives. My old Honda (1998) didn't have this problem and I don't have this issue in other similar cars.
I'm considering selling the car as a result but don't want to because she's such a pleasure otherwise!
Was considering replacing seats with alternative like perhaps the Accord seats. Would this work? Any advice?
PS. I'm 6 Foot 2 so maybe it's my height?

i know a couple people 6'2" and above that find their civics just fine. i dont think thats the issue. trying to get other seats to fit into your car will require you to have custom rails built to fit them plus loosing your side airbags and having the various lights on your dashboard light up unless you can figure out a way to bypass them. there are people who have put recaro's and other other aftermarket seats in.
You shouldn't have bought the car if you were uncomfortable in it.
Your issue is going to be the airbags and security built around it. If you pull out the seat and try to replace it with another one chances are the system is not perfectly identical and would trigger your CEL/SRS/etc lights to come on and just disable the safety features.

I also am experiencing the problems of a very uncomfortable seat. I purchased a 2007 Civic LX sedan about a month ago, and have loved the way the car drives (and the mpg!!). But on trips that last more than an hour, the bulge in the lumbar area really makes my lower back hurt. I'm trying different positions, but so far nothing has been the solution. I hope I can find a fix.

Try this I always have a problem even with my 93 civic if I sit on my wallet in my hip pocket my back gets sore. It tosses your hips out of alignment and will cause the lumbar support to hit you in a weird spot. Just a thought it might help. I can tell you this I love the seats in my new 09 si and if they are diff in the bolsters as stated you might want to go take one for a test drive and see how they feel. Might give you another option to keep all the air bag systems working
You are right about your wallet throwing everything out of alignment. You should never sit with you wallet (or anything with any kind of thickness to it) in your back pocket. It will cause back problems for you down the road.
