what exactly does it sound like? a "clunk" sound can never be good. i had a clunking noies come from my old 300zx and it was a fkd up rod. i was also driving it hard when this happend...were you givin it hell or racing before this happend??

i would take it to a reputable shop and have them look at it. it could be something simple or something complex. it would be far cheaper to have a shop look at it and determine what the problem is, than to drop a new motor in there. do you here this "clunking" noise when driving or just coming to a stop? like is the clunking noise more noticeable while driving?
