My Crappy DC Header...(56K Welcome!!!)
oh well what can you ask for. this thing was less then 4 bills....so cant really complain. but iwas just wondering if the rest of you had JDM DC primary flanges this chity? i honestly could have done a better job. i alos thought that their headers were all made by machine?? so they should all look like this right?? or is there a human stage...
here is the weight
leave my feet out of it
is yours like this?
im just waiting for my type one....

I de-blinged my header with a cut and hammered UK spec heat shield (that came off the old header.

i dont understand why your complaining? it appears they just shaved off the welds on the inside of header so " it can flow better " ! I think your insane for wanting to switch it out for another header because of simple the quality of the inside of the tubes? i am sure its some kinda of corrosion on surface that would simple be blown out! I just dont understand why people seem to think becuase its "jdm" its better!! look at the great header test, the dc was neck and neck with the type one, and cost less! though to each his own!!! eric
anyway, so others have had better looking primaries huh?? that kinda sucks, but oh well, what do you expect for under 4 bills right? im sure there will be no adverse effects because of this. i will dyno by months end and post results.
umm i was under assumption you were getting type 1 header!! now that i think about it, i think your talking about the exhaust!! sorry for flaming if i was wrong! eric
hardhead can you take a pic of how you mounted the heat shield onto the dc header ?? thanks
edit: and up yours lol

I dint buy the DC JDM, because it wasnt out yet. hehe! But I bought the 4-2-1, one piece header from DC. The FIRST one I received the damn bolts holes on the primary flange didnt even line up!! I was heated. They gave me the run around. Then they finally sent me a new one. I sent the messed up one back, shipping was paid out of my own pocket (dc bastards!). The second one did fit properly. But on BOTH my primary flange looked just like yours. Dont worry about it too much. I'm looking into the Hytech header and exhaust system. Heard good things about them, just a lil' expensive. But anyways good luck with the DC JDM!
The brackets are some cheap (2GBP for 4) zinc plated angle brackets, I enlarged the holes, and cut them to fit and mounted them on the lower header mounting studs, and torqued up the nuts back to facvtory spec. There is only a little of the shield left and it needed considerable hammering to allow clearance of the outer (1 and 4) primary pipes. The heat shield is a UK/EURO spec item I'm not sure if the US version will fit. I don't think it will work that well as a heat shield as it is touching the pipes in some places, but I'm going to get some exhaust wrap and do it properly
The shield is made of two sheets of steel and I have tack welded the bottom edge where it was cut right across to keep the two sheets from seperating.

My JDM DC 4-1 was beautiful. Both inside and outside of the header. As long as it doesn't affect airflow, its all good in my book.
My friend rubbed his DC SS header down with clean motor oil on a rag when he firct got it as the thing was getting hot for the first time... turned a beautiful golden colr and has stayed that way ever since.
For some reason the flange rusted out...

what do you expect from buying a DC sports header? You know all mass produced stuff is CRAP!!! i learned the hard way and i will never buy it again. Im sorry that you had to waste your money on that piece of crap.
