Are BBP Clutch kits any good? anyone know anything about them?
I have a 91 Civic Hatch with a B18A swap and I'm having a problem deciding whether to replace my stock clutch and pressure plate with this BBP racing clutch kit off of ebay for 78.95 which comes with the pressure plate, clutch plate, new bearing, and alignment tool. i bought a stock pressure plate here in town that alone cost 73 bucks. i also need to replace my bearing and my pressure plate is showing excessive wear. is this a decent brand for the money or should i shell out more cash for a more well known name brand. I dont really give a **** about name brand i just want an affordable product that works. Can anyone help me?
My friend has been using one with this B18A1 for about 3 months and he loves it so far. I'm thinking about one for myself
we've got this type of clutch (stage 1), to fit in to crx del sol b16a eg2 JDM import, will do fitting this weekend, and we can give a review on it, look wise, and after some time give some feedback about it later road experience
BBP clutch kits are absolutely piece of ****! BUILD QUALITY 2 of 10, pressure plate looked poor, disc didnt looked too bad but was very smelly from the beginning even not pushing car hard, other than that it slipped anyhow with every higher rev even after its first 500kms breaking in.
All sent in poor quality universal USPS box, everything loose inside the box, no packaging whatsoever, and clutch release bearing was forgotten to be included so we had to run trough the auto shops in town during the last minute to source one at the weekend while the kit is being fitted... then again I have requested partial refund from seller of 20usd for that missing bit I had to buy myself - I got tracking number and message with an apology saying that missing part is now being dispatched and I should receive it soon... wtfk?!?! thats hilarious!
Now today after 1000km of city driving clutch pressure plate got damaged broken while driving soft ~2000k rpm in town trafic, once engaged clutch to shift gear pedal stayed down, then I've managed to raise it but nothing good and this squeeking noise came out from the engine bay, and that smelly **** smoke out from everywhere from underneeth the bonnet, so stopped immediately, cut off the engine and moved clutch fork around by hand it was totally loose - somehow it felt clutch or release plate returned to its place, so as I thought, came back in to the car and started it again, car runs ok, but once engaged the clutch which was pretty heavy this time like never before the same fatality started over again! so got towed back home and now will have to organize disassembly and return item to seller from ebay: http://myworld.ebay.ie/glazious_direct
this is what Ive bought:

Spend the money, and get a known good one. Exedy OEM replacement or stg 1, OEM, LUK OEM replacement, Competition Clutch, ACT, or even Clutch Masters.
1. DON'T EVER BUY CHEAP. YOU PAY AT THE END. NO, YOU DO NOT NEED A STAGE 19 CLUTCH FOR STREET. UNLESS YOUR MAKING SOME SERIOUS TORQUE, THEN I WOULD RECOMMEND A HIGHER CAPACITY CLUTCH.
Now you know not go cheap. So far in both of my set ups, I have ran exedy stg 1. Holds really well. I should have just saved my money, and ran the exedy OEM replacement. Exedy OEM replacement go for $100-$120 for the whole kit.
2. Oh BTW, the brand Name is just more than just a name. It represents trust, reputation, and quality. Come on, I have never heard of BBP. The list up above? I can tell you that I know you have heard of them all...

buy an exedy clutch and flywheel package. Exedy makes OEM clutches for honda/acura already, so you already know they are of good quality. I have a stage1 w/ a 9.5 lb flywheel and it still holds strong even after much abuse on the street.
