i was driving around yeasterday and allof the sudden my kicker (4-way)amp to my 6.5" speakers just shut off and the red safty light came on..
there is a good ground the remote is fine and the fusses on the amp and cd player are fine, i also checked the rca's, they are fine as well..
any ideas?

 

Did it come back on or stay in protect? Could be a shorted out speaker lead, overheated amp, etc. Easiest thing to do if the problem continues is to disconnect all the speakers at the amplifier and turn it back on, if it doesnt go into protect, you have a speaker/wire issue.

It's stuck in protection mode and won't play, the power light doesn't even come on.

 

you disconnected the speaker wires right?
check all wires power, remote, ground. then check fuses on the amp and power wire

 

i checked power, ground, remote, rca's, fuses, ect.. what does disconnecting the speakers do? ill try it anyway

i tried unhooking the speakers and even put the amp in another car with an amp that i know works to rule out a wire prob., and still the amp stays in protection mode.. it must be fried

 

yea the amp is gone
