Post 92 Prelude bent valves question??

Hey Guys. I just got a 92 Prelude SI h23 last week and the guy who sold it said it was the timing belt so i check the belt and it was crack. however i bought the car and i replace the timing belt last night. however the car runs but i have to have my foot on the gas pedal otherwise it will turn off. it sound good the only thing is that the car wouldnt idle. im pretty noob on preludes im noob period. i was thinkin on replacing the spark plugs. but i really think that this guy bend the valves. if that is the case what are the symtoms of bend valves?
the car doesnt smoak and the engine sound right. what could be? the last time he use the car was about 6 months ago could it be it. should a tune up fix it?

thanks in advance.

You sure you got the timing right? Mine ran fine but wouldn't idle and it was because I was a tooth off

If u had a bent valve it wouldnt seal right on the head and you'd be smoking like a f***ing train.

Take it to someone who knows how to work on cars...Mechanic!!

Not necc.

I would double check your work and make sure cam timing is on. If you 100% sure its dead on perform a leakdown test. If you dont have an air compressor then do a compression test. I'm sure you can rent one or buy a guage at Autozone or Pepboys or something.

thanks i will double check my work. question my crx says up and it really means up. i have done my civic and crx and they both are the same way 90 degree angle.. now the prelude says up but is not n a 90 degree angle. and the other thing is that the engine is not n a 90 degree angle is more like 110 degree. so should the cams to the 90 degree angle or the engine angle???

thanks guys.

While both cam gears are up, there are two lines on the cam gears that line up with each other. Line those up while the cam gears are facing up.

thanks guys. i finally fix it. i was a tooth off.
first it did run but i have to idle it my self. so i did adjust one cam which was kind of off ones you start up the car.
2nd time. i line up the cams and didnt even start up.
3rd time. it start up good once i tight the adjuster screw it act stange again.
4th time got it right and im happy with the lude.. first time i have a lude. can beat the price $500 and i spend 180 on parts timing belt, water pump, little belt on the timing belt, and a tune up. running crazy... i got a great deal. the other guy sold it because his mechanic told him the he need it to replace the head and all kind of staff $1700 total.

thanks to that mechanic i have a nice prelude today. and thanks to you guys i fix it..
