Was cruising when my motor shut off on freeway..pulled to the e lane..poped the hood and timing belt is snapped...towed home opened it up and the timing belt had been sanded down smooth by valve cover..and so have the cam gears just the tips..some deep fat scratches on the cover intake side cam gear cover..put it back together started it up and still hear a slight grind like the timing belt is rubbing...pretty much just wanting to know if this has happened to anyone before and or wat I can do to fix it..haven't driven it yet since I don't wanna risk snappin another belt

Ok well I got to work on my car a bit today...I started it up again just to see wat might be the cause...I noticed that if I put a small amount of pressure on the valve cover it would rub harder and u can see the metal dust that came off the cams...I pulled up on the cover and it kinda went away..but came back..I don't kno if this might have to do with not having the cover on..I have the bottom cover with the timing mark but not the one that covers the cams..could this be the problem?

Both...the valve cover rubs belt and got sanded down and caused a snapped belt and wen I looked to see y it snapped I saw the vc and it had some deep scratches on it from the cam gears...cam gear teath are sanded round at the end from grinding the vc..only the intake camgear tho

I took off the bottom timing belt cover I don't have the middle one...lifted the car and started it and used a chalk string like the construction workers use to try and see if it wobbled but no wobble was detected..
