I blew my 97 dx coupe last night. would i get more selling it as a rolling shell or junkyard or parting the working stuff? Need some advice on my crappy situation. thanks in advance.

 

get a new motor...... d series are a dime a dozen

 

look on craigslist for a D-series motor..u can find one for under 500

 

or if u got a little more cash look for a B-swap on craigslist for under 1,500 all depends wut u want to do i dunno if ur into modding ur car but d-series u can get for cheap..build it and turbo it or get a b-series..all depends on ur budget and ur drive.

Guessing it would take a while to save for a B. Find a D, you can swap it in a weekend easily.
What blew exactly? Spin, throw a rod?

 

it really depends on the condition of everything. if the car's got good paint, interior is clean, you like to drive it... put a good used motor in.

(forget what dick and jane say about swaps. if you were considering upgrades anyway, you could swap or turbo or do what you like. but i'm guessing that since you're wanting to sell it off, you weren't looking to do that...)

on the other hand, if the paint is faded, body panels are banged up, interior is faded/stained/torn... basicly a junker on it's last leg, it's worth more in parts than in whole.

 

get a rebuild! or a new engine isn't expensive..

go B!

Just get another d if

shell= $1500 (really good condition) same shell with functioning engine = ($3000+)

if you're gonna sell it anyways you should still consider the resale prices ^^^
