Just to throw some little ideas around. This is all about curiosity. Basic run down of the class is:
-FWD only
-One power adder only.
-Restricted turbo size.
-Street stock car configuration.
-BFG G-Force T/A Drag Radial Tire P225/50R15 Tread Pattern 1 with any width wheel permitted
-2400lb minimum weight for turbo and supercharged cars; 2000lb minimum for nitrous only cars.
?????????????? Whoever can get it down wins. Sort of like Outlaw ten five racing.

I would love to watch that.
Why only BFG drag radials? I've heard alot of good things from M/T.
An I guess MH would be too big for this one.

would you be allowing just radials or ANY DOT APPROVED street/drag tire? Very silly to me to limit the brand of tire to be used. Im partial to the MT ET street radial 235/60/15, it should be the max size just as it was in Power Street...even though thats the past lol but still.
I ran today at a race with drag radials and my god its hard work!

Exactly what im looking for. This is what it would take for me to race my car at the track. Why only BFGs though? I'm currently running M&H 235/60-15
everydoby will be running the 235/60/15 m/t streets those things are great, bfg's are useless when you anything more than like 400 hp
Yeah the M&H should be allowed as well.......I like slicks, but something about going somewhat fast on the radials or DOT approved tires makes me happy in the bathing suit area.......j/k

The whole idea behind my idea is to give some sanctioning body a bug in their ear.
The tire needs to be small and needs to be the limiting factor to faster elapsed times. If you make more power, you'll probably be less consistent as compared to a lower hp combo. If you go ahead and allow a large drag radial, then what happens is that the higher hp cars will have that much more of an edge. Not good. Eventually though, a big power turbo combo will be able to get it hooked up and will start pulling really hard on the back half of the track. NHRA Street Stock had this, and the tire needs to be small.
However, one must limit turbo size. I don't know where the limits should be, but it's a must. The reason is that there needs to be more diversity in drag racing, and not just a car with one big turbo. No. Diversity is a must.
There almost needs to be restrictions on the motor. I really can't go to that extent since I don't think people would agree. My initial plans were to prohibit cylinder head modifications except for flat milling the surface of the head. Then having a maximum displacement of 2.4L. Then allow for any camshaft that is commercially available to general public, but that's all that could be changed with the head. No porting, no oversized valves, etc. It keeps the cost down, and keeps involvement up. Simple!
I made a complete list of rules for my vision of this class. I made two versions. One of the versions prohibits head modifications of any kind except for flat milling the head. The other version has no restrictions on head modifications. Less restrictions means greater elapsed time inconsistencies, and most of all, higher costs that take the class from the reach of interested and/or potential racers.
If you guys want to see the restrictive version of my rules idea, i'd be more than happy to post it. Just let me know.

RULES ARE CURRENTLY BEING REVIEWED!
I appreciate the input from everyone, and if you don't mind continuing your input, perhaps we'll have a class that is: affordable, consistent, and diverse.

I appreciate your response. Hey, I might just butt out for while and let you guys discuss it. That might not do much, but I don't want to defend my idea like a lawyer defends his/her client.
Not really. You are right in a sense, but with forged internals, better cams, and fuels like C16 combined with Neptune, geez, you could lean on it pretty hard. That's why the rules are just a rough draft right now. This isn't going to be the fastest class in the world, but a lot faster than one would ever imagine.

i know what ur saying.. i went 10.9@137 @2400ishlbs on stock motor with cams, springs retainers on 225 50 bfg
I like the idea of the class but I think the rules are way to restrictive. I get the intent of trying to keep the performance down but you do that through turbo/tire restrictions. The other option would be engine claim rule.
Also why limit the displacement if turbo size is going to be restricted? I'm asking because I could be interested in this class but I'd want to enter with a VW vr6 which is 2.8L but only 170 crank hp from the factory.

Not trying to be a weiner or anything, but did you get these rules from a Mustang class? They look familiar to some of the rules I have read for one of those Mustang classes.
Either way, they are a starting point, but I think it would hurt the attendance with some of the rules on the body parts and what not. Im all for a stock looking car, but there are a ton of us that have a cf hood with hood pins/latches. Plus I do not have mirrors because of the factory Honda made block off plates that I installed. Right there cancels me out! haha

How can you call the class an Outlaw class and then post more rules than any current class? I have read entire rule books that were shorter.
A true outlaw style class should be weight, tire, and turbo restrictions and thats it. Since its a street class rules to keep the cars at least appearing like street cars would be ok but the fewer the better.
I do agree the tire has to be kept small to make it work and keep the class interesting - limit it to a 225 but allow any brand.
Turbo wise - 67mm or smaller maybe with a no billet wheel clause?
Those are my thoughts at least.

Get on your flame suit.....lol. Yeah those rules are rediculous for an "outlaw" style class. The rules you have are a grass roots, keep the cost to near stock level, stock car with small mods and turbo kit.
Where did you get those rules, +1 on seeing them from another rule book. It is like an SCCA rule book from hell!
If the car makes weight, who cares if the bumper support is removed or it has a CF hatch/hood? Stock springs with aftermarket coilovers? No hood pins? No AEM, etc.? Only four injectors and one fuel pump? Batteries in the factory location? Rear windshield wiper....car doesn't even have one...lol
I like the idea man, but some of those rules are stupid.

Hey guys, that's what's important. You guys coming up with ideas to better the rules. Perhaps it shouldn't be called Outlaw. Maybe something like Super Stock Outlaw. I don't know.
Hey, but the current idea is just a rough draft. Understand that the current idea should be centered around a vehicle that is somewhat stock, but nearly every part used on the car, except for those that affect the cars appearance externally and on the interior (depends upon what the current rules list states), must be commercially available to the public.
I didn't copy the rules. I just know how to write a rough draft. lol
P.S.- Oh, you can do whatever you want to the motor except for those things in the rules currently stating otherwise. AEM fuel rails are perfectly fine. Oil catch cans are fine. You name it, it's fine. As long as the part is commercially available to the public. By the way, if the factory has side view block off plates available, then yes, they are considered both a factory item and are commercially available to the public. It's all good.

seriously how can you call this an outlaw class. sorry the 225/50 will limit period. you realize 400+whp cars with ITR trannies or B16 trannys wont run the event right? the only way I could use a 225/50 again is if my motor reved to 11,000rpm. fastest my old car went on 225's was 12.0@125MPH hitting the rev limiter in 4th.
Radials break parts period. keep ET streets and stuff out of the mix but dont limit to a radial tire. I would consider running something like this if infact I could continue to use 235/60/15 M&H. Really these rules are a watered down version of old power street rules so this deal is FAR from outlaw

this is not an OUTLAW drag radial class LOL...Can't have golden eagle/benson style sleeves from what i understand? Have fun having a **** load of engine popping half track. Cant have Coil overs or traction bars? Thanks for taking away ANY CHANCE of a drag radial car being adjusted to make a little traction.
also, with those rules, especially engine sizing and head mod rules, it would take a sanctioning body as large as NHRA to handle the tech and protests. Its just not going to happen any time soon.
make a 22" slick class.
