Downshifted from 3rd to 2nd and now car wont start
HEY GUYS IM A NEW USER HERE.
MY BEAST IS A 2003 CIVIC SI.
AND JUST HAD A QUESTION.
LAST NIGHT I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING BACK HOME AND I STARTED ON THE FREEWAY RIGHT. THEN WHEN I WAS GOIN ON SECOND GEAR AT ABOUT 5000 RPMS I TRIED TO SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR BUT I SHIFTED INTO 2ND GEAR BY MISTAKE AND THE CAR MADE THIS SUDDEN PULLBACK AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE OIL CAP BLEW OFF AND NOW THE CAR WONT START.
I SWAPPED THE REMAINS OF THE OIL CAP FROM THE SOCKET AND I PUT A NEW ONE IN THERE THINKING IT WAS GONNA START UP BUT THE CAR WONT START FOR NOTHING.
WAT COULD BE WRONG WITH MY CAR??
WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT THEN AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS IT TURNS OFF AND ONLY THE BATTERY AND LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHTS STAY ON.
I HOPE IS NOT DEAD



IF U GUYS GOT ANY ADVICE IT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I've never heard of an oil filler cap blowing off.
You probably damaged the engine internally. My best guess is bent valves due to valve float or skipped timing chain teeth. It would be a good idea to run a compression test and check the cam timing.
Read the diagnostic trouble codes from the computer to determine what caused the Check Engine light to come on.

how much do u think it costs to do that diagnostic thing?
like an estimate?
would it be better just to swap another engine onto the tranny? cuz the transmission is fine.
i was a guy at the gas station that has the same car as me and he told me that i probably cracked the engine and that the engine is about 1000 bucks.

As mentioned earlier, get a compression check done ASAP... since you can't drive it either have it towed to a mechanic that's familiar with Honda's or go to autozone and rent a compression tool and google how to use it.

IS THIS A GOOD ONE TO USE?
I WILL GET MONEY ON THURSDAY SO I WILL DO THE TEST THAT DAY.
MEAN WHILE ILL JUST CLEAN THE OIL FROM THE ENGINE CUZ THERE IS OIL EVERYWHERE.
ILL KEEP U GUYS POSTED TO C WHAT ARE THE RESULTS FROM THE COMPRESSION TEST.

Do u guys think that maybe by swapping another caM gears and settin up the right timing will help out with this mess...

Any other ideas u guys?? I downshifted at about 5000 rpms and suddently the car pulled back and i heard a pop. Thats when the oil cap blew up and the car just stopped.
