First post: Lost 5th gear w/new clutch-HELP!
First of all, great site! I've been a lurker for awhile now, and my small stable of Honda's have benefited greatly from what I've read here. Thanks!
Here's my problem: I have a very clean '87 Prelude SI with a little over 167k miles, and not too long ago the clutch started slipping on me in 4th and 5th. Not having the time to replace the clutch myself I "farmed it out" to a mechanic recommended to me via word of mouth (who replaced the driver side CV axle as well). I picked-up the car yesterday and everything seemed fine, but about 50 miles into the new clutch I lost 5th gear. I was driving along the interstate with the CC on, and all of a sudden it went "pop", and now 5th acts like neutral. Sitting in the driveway I can shift it into 5th and let-out the clutch- nothing. All of the first 4 gears are fine.
Is this coincidental? Are Preludes "known" for this, or could the mechanic have done something wrong (disconnected linkage, no/low tranny fluid, etc, etc). Please help! I NEED this car!
Thanks.
Todd

Nothing to be sorry about as there's nothing wrong with posting this here. You'll get better help with a problem like this in that specialized technical forum.
