Default h23 block h22 head questions

hey all, I've done some searching but haven't really found any answers. What is the difference between a H22a4 block and a H23 block (other than the solid deck)? Can I put my H22 internals in a H23 block? are the deck heights the same? looking at buying a bare H23 block, so using it for the added stroke is not an option. Basicly I am trying to ditch my SH block so I don't have to run a SH transmission or adapter (I found a clean H23 block thats affordable) Its for my sandrail, so I don't need to hear the pros and cons of not having ATTS and whatnot. Thanks guys.

really?!?!? cool thanks for all the info. ....uhhh..... come on! I know it is possible to bolt a h22 head on a h23 block, I just want to know if it is a straight bolt on deal, or is it like a ls/vtec conversion? is there a thread for a how to?

If your current H22a4 is a 98+ model, the crank has 55mm main journals. If it's a 97 model H22a4, it'll work fine. 92-97 are 50mm.

H22a/1 and H23 blocks are identical with the exception that H23 blocks don't have the oil squirters installed. That's something you can transfer from your current block.

Also, remember to remove the oil control orifice from the H23 block.

so what your saying is if you have an h23 block you can just bolt an h22 head right on it put oil squirters in it and call it a day? because i have a 94 h23 and im pretty sure that i have a bad rocker so i want a little more kick. but if i bought an h22 head preferably h22a1 i wouldnt need a new ecm?

No, the op already has all the H22 parts it's straightforward. Look in the faq section under the Hybrids. You'll see exactly what's required.
