Engine trouble!! i turn it on and she dies on me...
hello all, some of you may know me form my little build thread i started. well, last night i drove me and my roomate to 7-11 and on the way home about 3 houses down from mine, the car dies. lights and everythign are still on, but she just craps out on me and i had to crank her up again to get her going. so i let her sit the night out
and this morning i turn her on....and she dies out...then theres this horrible clicking sound coming from what it sounds like, the alternator? so i unhook the vacuum line that goes to the (charcoal canister that holds fumes to start the car) and she idles at 1100..as it is supposed to...then i slowly keep capping the fittig with my finger and she idles at barely 250RPMS...and sounds lie shes about to die again.
its is a 93 civic cx, with a 96 B18B swap.
could it be the alternator?
could it be the distributor?
burnt spark plugs?
please help me guys...im going to college and i dont have a lot of money to simply throw around...
could it be the fuel pump? theres like a clicking coming from around the alternator/ fuel line.
ugh im seriously freaking out...i have no idea what it could be and shes my daily to get to schoool and work.
and ideas or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Is the CEL ON?
Are you saying the engine has a low idle speed? If so, try cleaning the IACV.
Also try to precisely pinpoint the location of the clicking noise.

well the engine has always had a cel...and it did this to me about 3 months ago too. and yes basiaclly it used to idel at 800. now it idels at 500. but now it has trouble idling at all...it just dies. where is the iacv? and i heard about another sensor..like the FIAV or somethign? and the clicking sounds like its coming formthe najo fitting on the fuel rail, and then theres like this rbbing noise sounds like its coming form the cam gears or somehtign
im new to the whole tuning thing..where would i get the codes pulled? and is there a way to test the alternator to make sure its good? where would i get the timing checked?
You can go to AutoZone to have the codes pulled for free or you can pull it yourself by jumping the service connector. You can test the alternator as well but I'm not sure where you can go to have it tested (maybe PepBoys but they might charge you, not sure).
alrighty thanks...if anyone has any other suggestions id be happy to hear em..im thinking it has somethign to do with the electrical system or misfiring ..ie incorrect timing.
