Steering Wheel Locking on ZigZags. (HELP Needed)
Hi Guys,
I need URGENT HELP!
I've been on track today and were training for tommorows auto x and I've got problem when driving in zigzag figures.
When I aggresively turn steering wheel left and then right or vise versa I kinda locks for a moment and It's very hard to turn it.
I see this problem on every prelude and civic.. So you might have solution for this.
I used search but could not find anything.
Please help.
Sorry for my bad english..

Do you still have power steering? Maybe the reservoir is sloshing under high transitional loads and causing a momentary loss in pressure in the power steering fluid. I would check the fluid level to make sure it is high enough.
Now when you say you "aggresively turn"...does that mean you're turning the wheel itself in a fast motion, or when you turn the wheel at high vehicle speeds/cornering? Or both? Does is bind/lock at slow speeds etc?
No not on high speeds.. on speeds 20-30mph it occures when I try to turn fast opposite.
Over driving your power steering pump, it can not keep up with your inputs. Commonly occurring problem on Pigludes, slow your inputs or change your power steering system.

I had this problem on a 97 VW GTI VR6 I autocrossed, the power steering couldn't keep up with fast inputs. Replaced the fluid and that did the trick.
Never had that problem on any of the many Hondas I've autocrossed, however. Try flushing and replacing the fluid. Just because it's at the high mark doesn't mean the fluid is good and can do its job well anymore. Hydraulic fluids (brake, clutch, steering) need to be replaced periodically.
