Default 5th gen. Mugen exhaust in 4th gen.

what modifications would i need to do to make the 5th gen. Mugen cat-back exhaust fit and bolt up in my 96 H23 lude? is it possible, or even worth it for that matter? if i had an H22 i know it would be doable.
any help is greatly appreciated!

If I remember correctly, the hangers near the resonator need to be moved. I also know the tip protrudes out further from the rear bumper than it would on a 5th gen. The tip can be cut and moved back, but only if you dare!

You will get many different opinions on whether or not this is worth it. If you are planning on swapping in a VTEC setup, then absolutely. If you are not, then this is money that could be better spent building a VTEC head! The exhuast is top notch and drmatically increases midrange power while also increasing power at the top end. I have had mine for 10 years and over 80,000 miles and countless track events. Not a single issue and it still sounds incredible.

Brian.

yes like as mentioned above the 5th gen exhaust will fit on a 4th gen, but a few modifications have to be made. The tip will sit about 1-2 inches farther out, and one of the back muffler hangers is in the wrong location. It will bolt up and work, i know, i have done it.

here is a few pictures of one of my old cars, excuse the wheels. I was using a 5th gen apexi dunk.

preludestud what engine was in the car you had the 5th gen. exhaust on? h22 or an h23? if it was an h23 did you have to change the cat to a h22 cat? and did all the bolt holes line up and bolt right together?

I was using a 5th gen Mugen header, and 5th gen prelude high flow cat. You can use 4th gen stuff but it wont bolt up. The 4th gen b pipe is a little bit long than the 5th gen. so if you had a 4th gen b pipe you can get a 5th gen highflow cat/testpipe off ebay, and cut the required length out the middle, then weld it back together, I did that with the next setup on had on this.
