Default My B16 Hatch times

Took my newly swapped B16 powered VX to the track tonight. It was about 90 degrees and almost 100% humidity. Car was with full interior, spare, jack, odds and ends, floor mats, ect Also ran on 16" heavy motegi rims with kuhmo tires.

First run was a 14.97 at 92.40. Second was 14.91 at 92.67. Third was a 14.88 at 92.79. 1/8th mile best was 9.60 at 75.03mph. The track was slick and my best 60ft was 2.35 which was on my best run.

Based on what other people ran, and my 60 ft times, and what I could take out of the car to make it alot lighter, I hopefully should get down to the 14.5's. Since it was at slippery Speedworld in orlando i'm sure I can do better.

I agree with u ricodemus

i went to the track this week too.. and i only ran 15.4 @90 mph.. wtf is that.. b16a3 with ctrcams, aem cam gears, aemCai, comtech header, skunk2manifold. but stock exaust and vafc.. and i got a disapointing time..

Nsxmatt: how high u rev when u launch?

i launched at 3500 then shifting closest to 8200 all the way.. and i only got 15.4 . that dont sound right.. how come u got a heaver car and u did better.

B16As are very touchy to drive at the track due to lack of torque. Screw one thing up and the whole run is ruined.

True, B16's are real touchy to drive fast everytime. I don't really have a launch rpm, I just blip the throttle at around 4k and slip/drop the clutch. Depending on the wheelspin I either let off some or give it more gas. You have to keep it in the powerband though cause if you let off till it grabs most of the time you'll bog it. Give it too much gas and it will bounch off the rev limiter. I was spinning pretty bad all night but I wasn't spinning too fast so it was still pulling alright. Still a 2.3 60ft could be better.

BTW my car weighs 2180 without me in the car so it's pretty light.

My 99 Si with i/h/e ran 15.3's (with 2.3/2.4 60's) a few times, and that was my only time at the track, you guys should be quicker.

My old 92 GSR ran a 15.0 with a AEM intake and 150k miles. Sometimes cars run something they are not supposed to. I'm happy with what I ran at a track in florida on a hot summer afternoon. Lots of variables to work with.

Well i wouldn't say an si isn't supposed to run those times, since my friend with I/e ran a 15.2 that same day. I'm just saying with the same motor (even though some are stronger, variables, etc) in a lighter car, there should be faster times.
